Theory: Mirabel didn’t get a gift bc she wiped the magic off her hands when she was about to touch the handle.
Ngl I sort of feel bad for the girl at 6:31, out making a whole film theory over the symbolism of butterflies in Encanto. The butterfly is a classical symbol for change. The butterfly represents how the family has changed and must change continue to change, and Mirabel was the catalyst for that second change. Her gift was literally facilitating change, and that’s why she’s associated with butterflies.
I swear if they don’t make an encanto two I will literally cry 😭
