*When you can’t decide between the new polymatter video and the new wendover documentary*
I left wendovers 1 hour documentary for this, so it better be good.
Edit: it was good! 🙂
“chose for the pretty girls and the winter snow.”
relatable
if you go missing, we’ll know where you went
At 5:34 it’s shown that all Chinese downloads of TikTok were iOS, but I’m pretty sure that is false.
EDIT: Or it just shows the global version of the app in China.
I have to say, your pronunciation of Chinese characters is getting a lot better.
‘Tik tok steals your data and sell it’
Google: *sweating profusely*
‘Tik tok steals your data and sell it’
Google: *sweating profusely*
Edit: oof I created a war. It’s a joke everyone calm down
TikTok: *Has a risk of being shut down due to being a privacy violator*
Google: *Stares and then looks the other way*
EDIT: Looks like I started a flame war
Polymatter: *uploads*
Everyone: _”a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one”_
“There is a third, neutral path”
In other words, US politicians will never implement it.
“This is a long term solution for a long term problem” America: oooh we don’t like that
Me: Hey, can you tell me something about the Tiktok ban?
PolyMatter: Zhang Yiming was born in April 1982.
Me: Okay, but what does this have to do with the Tiktok ban?
PolyMater: We get there, when we get there
0:44 this placement of massachusetts is horrendous lol
PolyMatter: There, however, is a third neutral path.
US Politicians: 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
“Suspicions of foreign interference”…I wonder why the same “suspicions” dont happen with US apps in other countries…hmmmmm
I never downloaded tiktok let alone use it.
But this video was interesting.
Unless they pass a law banning intrusive data collection, any calls to ban TikTok is nothing but our ruling class attempting to use China as a scapegoat in order to divert attention from what they are doing.
When he said “It could be you” at the end, my Google Assistant activated
Chinese netizens to Indian and American netizens: Welcome to the VPN club!
Can’t believe you weren’t sponsored by a VPN for this one, would’ve been a perfect transition
Great video, im glad to see that people are finally addressing this issue in such a way that doesnt make it look like a conservative conspiracy theory with dubious racist undertones. It is a very pressing issue. but i gotta disagree with the idea that storing data in the us physically makes it safe. If the chinese government asks for access, tik tok is obliged to give it to them, no matter where the servers physically are.
“We’re concerned about the Chinese government collecting your data” – brought to you by the same people who gave you award winning legislation such as: The Patriot Act!
Your Mandarin is improving!
okay now we have entered this stage: globalization causes privacy issues.
I disagree at two points:
Byte is actually the spiritual successor to vine as it has been created by one of the co creators of vine and and has been in the works pretty much since vine was discontinued.
So saying it is trying to replicate the success of tiktok is quite unfair
Tiktok might get banned for taking user data
Google: *sweating intensifies*
“Tik Tok will keep you entertained for how many hours you allow it” Thats why I dont use it lol
Okay, this is too much to handle for me:
– A 20 minute video from PolyMatter
– A 6 minute video from HAI (Half As Interesting)
– And an hour long video from Wendover Production
All in a metter of a few hours, are you kidding me!?
This feels like a case of why choose the fair logical long term solution when we can use the politically attractive and short sighted short term solution so we can win an election.
Some people: TikTok steals your data.
Google & Facebook: **Sweating Intensifies**
Indonesia actually temporarily banned TikTok a while back.
Microsoft: *buys TikTok*
Trump: Oh, ok! An american company now owns TikTok
Trump buys ads on Facebook… to tell you that TikTok is spying on you…
Hmm…
I like how Zuckerbergs been accused of using people’s data and yet he’s still just chilling
Speaking about data privacy…..
Google: I’m out
Facebook: I’m out
Twitter: I’m out
Tik Tok: gets banned
Everyone: YES
YouTube: gets overrun by Tik Tok stars
Everyone: what have we done
Someone: **makes a Google stealing data joke**
Karens: *_W H O M P S T H A S A W O K E N T H E A N C I E N T O N E?_*
This whole mess regarding Tik Tok at least in the US would’ve been avoided if Music.ly wasn’t bought out.
Polymatter: There is however one obvious difference between these two”
One is a robot and the other one is a lizard?
China: blocks US software.
US rolls uno reverse card.
