The thing about tiktok that scares me the most is how, just like tumblr before, it rewards mental illness and victimhood to the point of inducing symptoms in otherwise healthy individuals, usually young girls. It surrounds them with content on how to “cope” as someone with a mental disorder and videos of vague diagnostic criteria that leads to mimicry of the negative behaviours until they’re ingrained and can’t stop
TikTok should get shut down. And parents should parent their kids.
As a 17 year old it sucks that everyone around me is influenced by tiktok, including my own mother and little brother. I feel like it’s just sad that my own mom is addicted to tiktok when parents are supposed to protect their kids from this stuff
Literally turns ANYTHING into a trend or aesthetic and soon genuine personalities will go out of style it’s crazy 💀
Unfortunateley 99% of tiktokers did not watch this because it is longer than 2.5 seconds.
This is our society, humans literally can’t see what is happening to ourselves.
People are saying “I am glad that I quit TikTok” which is basically the same situation as quitting smoking. This is how bad TikTok is.

Not just Tik Tok, I feel most of the social media has become toxic with all the unnecessary nudity & depressed teenagers seeking for attention.
I remember watching my nine year old cousin scrolling endlessly through tiktok. It was heartbreaking, and all I could do was watch with her to make sure she wasn’t consuming anything harmful. She’d just scroll through tiktok endlessly instead of finding something else to do together, and while I was glad that she only watched funny things, I was still upset about it. We rarely see eachother, she lives in another country and my family’s struggling with money issues, making it hard to visit. About three quarters of our time together was watching tiktok.
i hate that short-form contact (reels, shorts, etc.) are becoming highlights of most social media applications… even if you don’t use tiktok, the tiktok model/effect is leaking into the rest of the internet. it’s nearly impossible to escape
My little steap sister has gotten cought up in the fake mental disorder trend on TikTok for a while now. She had shown an unusual interest in my mental disorder an under the guise of “wanting to understand me better” turned into just wanting to learn how to copy it as realistic as possible. So good that she’s got her boyfriend and his family completely convinced she’s got these disorders and convinced that we were “emotionally abusive to her”. Wich was just us asking that she cleaned the dishes she uses… that’s it. An now with some girl online she has fallen into the fake DID fad as well! It’s beyond rediclous! She basically uses it to get attention and as an exscuse as why she can’t get a job like everyone else. And now to get pity money from folks online and to get food stamps an social security benefits. All just so she can sit on the internet an play WoW all day long. It’s a sad existence.
I was seriously considering making a video just like this, the fact Tik Tok still exist in this capacity is disgusting. I never liked or searched for this content on Tik Tok yet it is so prevalent that its nearly unavoidable, truly disgusting is the only way to explain it.
Unfortunately this is where we’re all going as a society with this excessive presence of social media in our lives. It is a really frightening course we’re heading and having more traditional, ethical morals is being mocked because it’s not in the mainstream idea of global medias and etc. God help us.
“is this application worth using?” Of course not. Just ban it.
Whenever I’ve heard critique of TikTok, it’s always been centred around cringe and how cringey these teenage girls are. I think it’s crucial that in TikToks critique we do not focus on judgement of the people engaging in these things, but rather judging the systems/platform itself for cultivating such an environment. That’s when the real discussion can begin about how to tackle this issue.
I’ve never been on tic tok and I’m glad my kids are adults now. Thank you for enlightening us on this truly disturbing reality!
I feel this whole tik tok thing is just one of many things purposefully meant to destroy our country’s youth.
Just knowing history, you can see everything happening today (gender confusion, loss of morals, destroyed economy, etc.) happens just before a society falls. The Greeks, Weimar Republic etc.
What’s really Sad is so many people aren’t even aware that its happening 😢
