This ‘Tech’ person is a HIGHLY uninformed guest. The problem with Tik-tok is their terms of service one must agree with to download and update the app. READ through their TOS, which includes them owning the rights to ANY images you post. They can access ANYTHING ON YOUR PHONE, such as your banking & creditor apps, including all your contacts’ information, who apparently have no say in the matter. People who have Tik-Tok app on their phones are opening themselves up to HUGE data drains of their personal information. READ THE TOS (Terms of Service) and get wise.

Although it is based in Singapore the business language is still primarily in Chinese for many of their business units.
Many of their employees in Singapore are Chinese nationals, some units majority are Chinese nationals.
