I honestly was hoping tiktok could get banned as a whole. It baffles me how people could just spread misinformation, encourage others to do dangerous “trends” and have underage kids posting themselves online to the general public. My younger sister is obsessed with the app and It really gives her a bad influence on her attitude towards life. Something really needs to be done about these type of apps. If I could see the affect it has on my family member I cannot imagine how much it must affect younger children who do not know better. The whole platform is a disease.

I completely fuckin agree. Well past worn and tired of the current pop-culture bullshit on Social Media. Also, imagine putting effort into “Wow’ing” your way onto the “talent” list of the kid that shit the bed with TanaCon.
We went from having an actual personality and making original and funny skits to copying someone’s brain dead idea, it’s crazy how trying or becoming famous can change someone

The thing I don’t like about tik-tok the most is that people deliberately try to be “famous” on it. At least on YouTube there is actually useful information for practically any hobby or niche you want.
Honestly it’s so sad and messed up how unregulated and money dumps for misinformation campaigns so many platforms are. The sheer depravity is so fucked and the nonsense needs to end. Social media really could be genuinely useful. Doesn’t have to be like this. I’ve honestly found genuine communities in various platforms but I just am so bothered by how people act like money and views have to be above everything else even people’s lives and genuine wellbeing

Social media isn’t a place to “connect with friends” anymore. It’s a place to be advertised to and have your data harvested. It is no understatement to say your motivation, opinions, intelligence, morals and very soul may be at stake.
Anytime new apps/social media emerges it never fails to amaze how quickly the corporate vultures will swoop in and find ways to commodify wannabe influencers. I remember when people were concerned with YouTuber burnout. Can’t imagine how much worse it’s gonna be for these 17 yr olds who get used up and spit out by the system before they can even legally drink.
Hearing the words “challenge” or “trend” these days makes my brain instantly physically shit it’s pants with diarrhea
