December 17 TikTok threat: Schools across Philadelphia region on alert due to threat of violence

tiktok!!

A disturbing trend has Philadelphia-area schools on high alert as threats of violence continue to circulate on social media.

The threat, which is primarily being fueled on social media, has many school districts increasing police presence Friday.

Earlier this year, TikTok challenges encouraged students to destroy school property. Now there’s another one spreading nationwide. It started out as a challenge to ditch school, which morphed into a threat of violence at schools on Friday, December 17.

A school in Texas canceled classes Friday in light of the threats.

In Upper Darby, Superintendent Dr. Daniel McGarry says he and other officials didn’t feel that was necessary for their schools.

After the last 2 incidents this month you’re really going to just roll this one into the water like that? I pray for these kids and faculty tomorrow everything is okay.

Well, if tiktok doesn’t want to be banned, they should at least find the culprit behind these threats.

So basically this is the rule of spoiled tik tok users. I believe none of this would have happened if it were not for tiktok

I can’t believe this at all. I haven’t attended an in person school in nearly two years now and I thought the little empty threats back then were a big problem. Look what they have turned into since this past August. Unbelievable. I highly doubt anything will happen but if it does I will not be happy. Someone needs to be held responsible for this.

Wow, it’s no longer safe to send your kids to school. There might be some pissed off kid there with a gun. Parents, please sort out your problems with your kids before sending them to school…..

I’m so sorry for all of you children that have to deal with the thought of even thinking of being safe in these times at your place of learning and socialization. Some schools just fully opened and already it has been ridiculously uncomfortable for you all. I pray you all are safe and protected from any harm, or illness, or catastrophies of today’s world and evilness.

I’m from Philadelphia. I finally just left. The laws are so terrible. Violence is just sky rocketing. People have it hard enough as it is, then a threat like this and it doesn’t seem like it’s even taken as serious as it should be. Children especially do not need to be stressing and worrying for their safety. Schools are a that small time of day where some kids actually feel safer being there then at home. Schools are where kids may look forward to their meal when they don’t at home. Everyone is going through it, the fact that so many younger ones have to bear this kind of stress is god awful. I pray for everyone and wish all the love.

Parents let this be a lesson this is what happens when you do not discipline your children they grow up to be out of control and do stupid stuff .

No child should ever fear going to school! My son was so upset and scared this morning I decided to keep him home. Let’s face it, every day when we send our children to school now it’s an unsettling experience! This is not a good time to be a child or parent. Just heartbreaking!

Tiktok isn’t the problem. Guns aren’t the problem. Video games are not the problem. The parenting these children are receiving is the problem.

We’ve passed our broken value system to our children. Our ability to instantly communicate exacerbates this issue.

That’s the elephant in the room and nobody is talking about it. It’s easier to blame things rather than ourselves. We failed as a community to raise our children and until we fix our priorities as a country this will continue to happen.

These things also make us think of our fellow students as criminals. You wonder if someone is going to follow through with this trend and you think: “Who at this school would do that?” Even if it doesn’t happen it may still have psychological damage on kids and teachers, causing trust issues or paranoia. I’m not going to school today but I hope everything is alright. My fellow classmates went with the devious lick challenge and I’m scared they might go with this one too.
