This gives me so much anxiety I feel like I can feel that it’s a thing and it’s scaring me

These make me weirdly nostalgic. These rooms remind me of an old room in my grandma’s (rest is peace) old house. Me and my sisters would play in it since it was basically a play room. It had an old radio that whenever it turned on just played static. It didn’t bother me at the time but thinking of it now unsettles me. Something else unsettling was an old yellow phone. I was strangely obsessed with it, likely because I was a child who loved pretending to have ‘serious’ conversations over phones. But sometimes, I’d put the phone to my ear and someone would be talking. It was garbled and incoherent but terrified younger me. Whenever I told anyone they said it was just my imagination. So, I thought nothing of it. But the most unsettling thing about this room was if I was alone in it for even a minute i became terrified, feeling like I wasn’t safe and like I was being watched. There were times I’d be in there for almost an hour playing on my own. I was scared but was able to quickly calm down from playing with the toys in there and messing around but I think now (or from the age of about 7 when I stopped being able to just distract myself from feelings of dread) if I went in there on my own I wouldn’t be able to handle it. These rooms just brought back a lot of memories of that room in my gran’s old house the moment you described them. It’s weird and i wish i could go back there to check it out :/ oh well maybe that’s for the better

Anyone else think these “backrooms” look very similar to an elderly homes rooms. Especially the very old and unwell patients rooms..?

I definitely feel like the backrooms are in some way familiar. It’s like they’re from a memory I can’t quite place, especially the ones that look like old empty office buildings. But I have no memory of ever being in an office of any kind. Ever. So how can I feel familiarity for an atmosphere I’ve never been in?? Sus 🤔🤔🤔

Theory: The Backrooms are actually purgatory, like you said, but you can make it out. It’s tiring and feels endless and at times hopeless. You have something after you, something you can’t see or hear, but you know it’s there. It’s mission is to keep you there, drive you insane. But you can fight it and if you find your way out, you get a chance at a new, better life; you’re reborn. This also ties in with why some recognize the rooms, while some don’t; you’re either on your first life and have no recollection of these rooms whatsoever, or you have been reincarnated and that’s why they feel familiar.

Okay so , when I saw the images of “the back rooms” my mind immediately went to this movie called “Us” for those who know “Us” you would understand what I’m talking about for those who don’t know the movie , its a horror movie based on doppelgängers, the movie starts off with a young girl walking into a mirror room she’s turned facing away from a mirror and when she turns around well her reflection doesn’t. So she’s standing there staring at her doppelgänger. Okay well anyways that’s not the main thing that reminded me of the “Back rooms” , okay so practically in the movie , everyone has a doppelgänger, And the doppelgängers are messed up , all they eat are rabbits. The can’t speak , they live in the back rooms. The back room in the movie , it’s like a parallel universe, everything that happens in the real world would be happening in the so called “Back rooms” , everything is white , there are loads of white rooms . Excuse my profanity but this movie is brain fucking . It will get you thinking on so many levels .
