Incredible job on the video Kurtis, it turned out amazing!
james honestly seems so sweet. we must protect him at all costs.
Kurtis this was genuinely one of my favorite videos of yours. I couldn’t stop grinning the entire video. There’s so much negativity in every corner of the internet but this video is like a comforting blanket to wrap myself in. Keep doing what you do.
the way James didn’t even research who Kurtis was and agreed to show up to his house is both heartwarming and concerning
I could NOT STOP SMILING while watching this… James is such an amazing guy and I hope to have his confidence someday. He just radiates light!
I spent the entire length of this video saying “I love this so much” out loud to myself. James’ energy and joy is so infectious! My cheeks literally hurt from all the smiling.
Everything that is tired and wrong in the commentary genre, this video begins to fix. I’m so excited to see more videos that go and discover the human beings behind the internet videos like this.
I cried multiple times watching this. We don’t deserve someone as genuine and passionate as James!
Kurtis, I want to speak from an elder stand point. You’re roughly the age of my oldest (who got me into your channel) and this is the type of behavior I saw from him before he passed and his friends still.
Just unabashed, sweet curiosity for art and creativity.
This video is about more than James and I think he just serves as a perfect window to appreciating life and the media you consume. Exceptional work by every person involved.
Bonus points for the cameos by my favorite purveyor of nuggets, Jacob Andrew Sharpe and handsome dating show star Dean.
The fact that Kurtis posted this video on the J Music anniversary is so heartwarming because he knew how much it means to James
Honestly, i thought this guy was going to be reaaallly cringey. But dammit that happiness of his really is infectious. It’s incredibly inspiring to see someone who, even though his songs really arent for me, he really enjoys what he does, and is passionate about it and wants to share that passion and happiness with everyone else. The world needs more genuine kindness and happiness in it like James.
i’m not even 10 minutes into the video and i’m already crying tears of joy. Hearing James just talk about how much he loves music, and Kurtis listening so respectfully– I’m so happy right now. thank you, mr mayor
I love seeing you genuinely enthusiastic about an artist and sharing their work with us! Even bettter that James was down for an interview and a collab. If you run into any other media that you’re excited about and want to discuss in a video, I think it would be wonderful to have this contrast to the more sardonic critique videos. Either way: killin it, Kurtis 🙂
I love how unapologetic and passionate James is. I think everyone can learn something from him!
kurtis, thank you for this video. in an entertaining world thats slowly being consumed by AI, it’s incredibly important to showcase people like James who continue to produce original content and love doing it too. as someone who got back into writing this year and is full of anxieties about it, this video struck a cord in me. i hope it inspires not only other creators but consumers as well.
The fact that he is so himself is so refreshing. He doesn’t mask, he doesn’t pretend, he isn’t conceited. He’s humble and grateful for every person that supports him which is so beautiful. He truly is a light!
I feel like there is something nostalgic in his work. Just the idea of making what you want with a few close friends because it makes you happy reminds me of what we all use to do when we were younger. The fact he has kept the passion and improving his skill is so cool!
I hate the adult social norm that we can’t just be silly to be silly. Love that he is breaking through that barrier.
I’m loving this video from kurtis. he keeps his style of editing and comedy aspect, but he’s also helping spread an artist’s community! james seems so sweet and genuine, i’m so excited for their collaboration
as a neurodivergent person it’s incredibly inspiring to see James fully embrace his passions AND for kurtis & his friends (presumably neurotypical or close to it) having a fun time hanging out w James, not being ‘weirded out’ by his behavior or the way he talks- which i worry about all the time! and i worry about fully expressing my passions for it being ‘bad’ or ‘not even worth it’. in an online culture that feeds off meta analysis, commentary vids, satire, snark, mean humor, rumors, etc, it’s so refreshing to see a person just be appreciated for their art. this vid gave me hope that maybe others see me for my personality and passions first, and not just my neurodivergent-ness, it also makes me feel so inspired to just raw dog my hobbies and fcking go for it.
tldr; cringe is a social construct and james is the fucking Man
As someone who is autistic and got bullied for her interests all the time, this video was really…woah. The video itself was so wholesome and James’ personality and energy are so inspiring. Especially when he said “Just do your thing, you can’t please everyone” I literally teared up and cried. I’m now a James fan, tysm for giving this wonderful person the attention he deserves! ♡
Kurtis have you considered longer form documentary woi? You’re really good at this
Holy shit yes this is the sort of content that will eventually change the world for the better. There is so much hatred towards people who are passionate and are just having fun, what makes people think of it as cringe is because they’re uncomfortable because they live a sad sad life and are afraid to just be you. I love this so much
I’ve been bullied in the past for my interests and behavior, and seeing Kurtis and his friends just dance with James really chokes me up. It sounds dramatic, but it’s great to see Allistics do something and enjoy it with us.
Like a lot of the other ASD/ND commenters here, this was genuinely moving to me. When I was younger I was definitely made to feel ashamed of my enthusiastic interests and I know I’m not alone in that. And when that happens it’s far too easy to try to hide it and feel super embarrassed when it inevitably comes out. So seeing James fully embrace and let out his passion, which seems to attract people who appreciate and like vibe? with that is genuinely very inspiring. I hope to one day get at least closer to that point again.
can we take a second to also appreciate Reggie? its wonderful to see how much he’s supporting james and even showing up with a broken shoulder to help film a music video!
i’m so happy that you’re using your massive platform to uplift your fellow creator, there should be more of this, rather than the usual of tearing each other down. well done kurtis, i have always enjoyed your content but this is brilliant💕
I never comment on youtube videos, but I have to say something. The energy this video gives off (and this general meet up) is infectious and authentic! It’s so heart melting to see true passion, and creators lifting each other up.
People with the amount of charisma and drive like James are honestly a little terrifying. Thank god he’s a musician and not a cult leader, or we’d be screwed.
When you 3 were dancing with him brought me sooo much joy. The way you all seemed soo genuinely happy, and James being so excited to teach you. We need more people like him in the world
This may be my favourite video of yours so far and I have been a huge fan for years. I clicked expecting it to be a funny video about something weird creator on TikTok. I didn’t expect to finish the video feeling so inspired and moved by James, it made me emotional to hear his inspiring words and I admire how unapologetic he is about his passion. I am saving this video for a rainy day. Thank you for shining a light on him! ❤
as an autistic woman who had been masking for 17 years of her life, i’d made it a full time job to look down upon and feel embarrassed for people being themselves, because i genuinely thought that everyone, like me, was pretending to be someone they weren’t, that everyone was “weird” and that it wasn’t proper to let people see that. i was diagnosed last year and have come to appreciate people who are, unapologetically, just who they are, because i know that, for me, that’s the single hardest thing in the world. it genuinely brought me to tears seeing james be so passionate about what he does and so unapologetically himself. i still have a lot to learn from people like him, the people i admire the most
when Jacob, Dean and Kurtis did James’ dance and they were all laughing and smiling, it made my heart flutter. The way you can see the genuine joy and happiness on their faces is just so wholesome and beautiful.
i’m autistic and i have pretty weird special interests like james’ light shows. this video was so sweet kurtis and just wanted to let you know your support of james is so appreciated. no infantilisation and laughing with him not at him is very healing to my soul
