People just don’t know that “Latino” is not a race, but an ethnicity/culture. A person with brown, black, or white skin can be Latino if they’re from a Latin American background. So, it has nothing to do with her “only being half latina” because there are many latinos of European descent anyway. For example, many Argentinians are of European descent due to Spanish colonialism and European immigration. Many Dominicans are of African descent because of the slave trade. Many Mexicans are Indigenous because of their Mayan, Aztec or other native ancestry. Most of these people hating on her are either uneducated kids or trolls.

I don’t understand why she is getting hate. She is so amazing and she is an example of that you don’t have to have tan or dark skin to be Latino. For example, I, myself, an Puerto Rican and I have fair skin. I may even have the fairest skin out of my entire family. Although I am not a ghost, I have a skin color where if you mixed white, tan, and pink together.

That is the best way to describe it. I am fluent in Spanish as it’s my first language and bilingual in English obviously. Puerto Ricans come in all color. From the whitest white to the darkest black. We are like a rainbow of skin colors if you think about it. 😂 🌈

Since we are on the topic of rainbows, Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 ¡Puerto Rico de pura sepa y BORICUA! 🇵🇷🖤🩷

I love Ana’s videos as a 1st gen who speaks Spanglish i relate to her on so many levels. People forget that Latinos look diverse and she has stated that she’s mixed and genetics are a funny thing. I’m dark skinned Central American and I’m married to a white man. My kids are mixed and look like carbon copies of my husband. You wouldn’t think they were Hispanic at all.

I hate when strangers think they know more about your ethnicity than you. I’m French and Indian, but I look white so whenever someone learns that I’m Indian they try to convince me that I’m not. I even had a Spanish teacher in middle school try to convince me that I was Brazilian. Whenever I would tell her that I wasn’t she wouldn’t listen. This wouldn’t have been a big issue had she not kept bringing up the topic repeatedly and try to convince my classmates that she was right. The only way I was able to get her to stop was to have my dad come to the school and tell her that we were Indian.

My sister spent a summer in Mexico living with a woman who was a Mexican national, born and raised, with red hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. Turns out a lot of people in Mexico can trace their ancestry back to this European country called SPAIN.

the people telling her she “doesn’t look latina” must think being latino equals to having brown skin, dark hair, brown eyes, etc.💀

It’s not about your skin color, or how well you speak spanish, it’s about the culture that you connect with.

As a half Latina and half white myself , I can confirm this is the hate usually happening and them forcing you to chose one culture. It’s pretty upsetting how we made culture such a hateful thing instead of it being shared around the world to get us together.

She does absolutely make being latina her whole personality. Literally every video starts off with her talking about how she’s Spanish..
