The reason why it’s colored is because the reasearchers had put dye into the minerals they ate. The flavor of their nectar is discribed as floral, like honeydew and melon. This speices of ant lives in Australia, and are very interesting!

I found the book! Honeypot ants live in the desert. Some worker ants are chosen to be filled with nectar which they turn into honey. They store it in them until food is short so they can vomit it up and feed the colony.
