“Thank you Mr. Chew for bringing democrats and republicans together.” What a great opening line.

If this doesn’t result in TikTok being banned this was just a nothing burger. You can’t tell me in good faith that when both sides of the aisle go at with this and nothing comes of it it has to do with something far more nefarious than just TikTok.

My issue with all of this isn’t the fact that they are finally cracking down on TikTok for feeding information to the CCP, it’s that the US government is acting like other countries don’t do it too, and that the US government itself isn’t a part of that activity. If you want to ban one act of information theft in the name of maintaining user privacy and national security, it should be spread across the board.

When things go political (or political right), black n white just can easily be flip floppy at those senators’ will, n be manipulated as it had already set up …completely subject to donors’ interests.

‘Destroying our society from within’ – what does Crenshaw think has been happening via existing social media platforms before TikTok even arrived on the scene?

Yeah Tiktok is not going anywhere and AFT will keep doing whatever they want. Shame. Btw why would Tiktok take data and put it “out of reach”??

Damn. How the hell we got from rail road to tick tok?!?!?!! Guilty by association isn’t a corporate problem.
We asking the wrong questions.

Whatever TikTok’s is doing, our domestic apps are doing. Difference is these folks are getting their cut.

Back in the 70’s we got special need children jumping out of window because they think they can fly like superman and tried to blame DC comic 😂

Never forget: Dan Crenshaw owns Meta (i.e, Facebook) stock and should have declared his conflict of interest

Imagine if the parties were united in a joint goal – imagine what the nation could achieve…… Rather than both trying to divide.

My question is… isn’t this a concern with all social media apps and other data storing companies with a Chinese entity? Why only tik tok? Does Meta not have a Chinese entity? Google? Apple? Etc?

Wouldn’t, by the same logic, the Chinese entity of those companies be required by the CCP to hand over data?

The original sin on Tiktok is that its parent company is from China, and everything from China is evil from the US sight, the cheap home tool and apparel is ok, but hell no to the high end device and apps, I am so scared.🤣🤣🤣

I feel that they already make that decision to ban tiktok. The hearing is just formality they never let him speak and explain….

Singapore is proud of Shou Chew, who is a bridge between China and the US. He has one of the toughest jobs in the world, defending objectivity in the face of heavily loaded questioning.

Americans will have to use VPNs to access TikTok, just like Chinese people have to use VPNs to access YouTube

Rule No.1: dont answer any “yes or no” question with “yes or no” , because when you answer it, you are join their game and play by their rule, as per say ” rule based order”.

So let’s interrogate the CEO of TikTok! Let’s not give him a chance to say anything like what is really going on here. It seems to me that they are steam rolling him, saying all this different stuff and not giving him a chance to reply, or say anything I hate to say it, but our government is a bunch of bullies.

The assertion made by the representative is just wild fearful speculation. I remembered the youthful days in Taiwan when the government there made the same type of assertion repeatedly and I felt insulted because I felt the government consistently showed her distrust in her citizen. I came to USA in 76. 47 years have gone past and now I am seeing my adopted government is doing the very same thing…

Imagine if congress put in this much effort in actually improving American lives – such as infrastructures, healthcare, social security and education.

Based on the questions that these congressmen and women asked. You can tell that they have never used Tik Tok before. I felt bad for the CEO.

I don’t even use Tiktok but this is not a public hearing. It’s either a comedy show or a shameless execution. And the poor guy is… Singaporean 😂

So proud of our law makers. They managed not telling the Singaporean “go back to China” throughout the 5+ hours.

Watching congress ask questions about TikTok was like watching my dog afraid of it’s shadow. They are literally too dumb to understand the questions they are asking.
