Why TikTok sleuths descended on Nicola Bulley’s village – BBC News

tiktok!!

Police have confirmed a body found in Lancashire, England is that of missing woman Nicola Bulley.

A major search operation was mounted after the 45-year-old mother-of-two went missing during a riverside dog walk on 27 January.

Her disappearance has captivated amateur social media sleuths, with some people going as far as trying to climb fences and inspect buildings in the area.

Bulley’s family said in a statement that the treatment online by members of the public and parts of the media has been “absolutely appalling”, while once again asking for their privacy to be respected.

Why is everyone making such a fuss, and not to make light of the matter but lots of people die every day and I don’t understand what was so significant about her death. They should calm down with this story because I have seen it everywhere and I’m sure that Nicola’s family are frustrated and saddened that they see her face everywhere they look.

I wonder why this case got so much coverage when loads of people go missing all the time and it’s never reported. Odd.

“TikTok sleuths” is one of the saddest combination of words I have ever heard in my life. If nothing else hasn’t already convinced you that TikTok is a mental illness factory, where preening narcissists get constant validation and enforcement of their views, and then go on to act out in the real world, then surely THIS should convince you.

A sad end for a beautiful loving mother with a young family what a tragic end for a beautiful wife mother daughter, now give her nearest and dearest PEACE.

Social media has made it much easier for sad nonentities to get their desired 15 minutes of fame. That this sort of event is a tragedy for the people directly involved, matters little to the brainless, fame seeking vultures and rubber neckers.

We still don’t know how she died yet! Thank god she has been found but they haven’t done a post mortem so we don’t know if she drowned.

It seems to me that she fell in by accident. She was mid-call, saw something that she felt needed her immediate attention, (maybe it looked like her dog was about to go in the river), put her phone down, ran over to the river, slipped, fell in and drowned. It seems to fit. I doubt she intended to take her own life.

Criticise the so-called ‘experts’ especially those about to bring their books out. Their constant criticism of Lancs Police was outrageous. The police got it right Nicola was in the river – the clue was her dog. They were spot on the experts were wrong.

They’re just words, whatever anyone said, they are just words. This highlights how everyone is offended by everything these days. If I was in Nicola’s partners shoes, I wouldn’t have been reading any social media or watching the news, you know what’s going to be on there.
People are allowed to express their opinions, it’s freedom of speech, it’s a freedom we need to cling to as much as possible.
If you don’t like it, don’t watch it, don’t read it, you have a choice to engage or disengage. What we can’t allow to happen is a dystopian restriction on freedom of speech. I don’t use TikTok because I know it’s shite and full mostly of moronic people but I choose to not watch it, I would never ask for it to be banned, those people have a freedom to express what they want, whether I like it or not.

The family should be left alone to grieve and those that are intruders including the Media should be banished and leave the Place alone. Ghouls of which there are many these days are very sad individuals indeed!!

3 weeks, searches up and down the river, lack of evidence to suggest a fall, a 10 minute window disappearance, sonar scanning and resorting to questioning the health and stability of the victim herself. The UK police force disgusts me. Yet we concentrate on the people trying to figure out why the UK Police couldn’t find her. Yes, it’s appalling and yes this is dangerous, but where did this start?

It started with coverage of the case using statements from the investigation. Due to the mystery of her disappearance, the ridiculous coverage of it by media sources and the incompetence of the UK police force that has prolonged this entire affair, that is why people turned to finding their own answers because they weren’t getting transparent information. The system is what has failed, not the people. The police failed to locate her, and the media ran with any story it could find which prompted the social craze around her disappearance. Pretending the BBC and other media sources had an innocent hand in this case is disgusting.

The media was part of the madness and they were not helpful the coverage was over the top, many people go missing and never get the same attention…
what’s worse is in some of those cases they had a chance to survive but were unworthy of media attention now after talking about this soo much and causing all these tiktokers encouragement to be part of this investigation they wanna insult them as if they weren’t the first to jump on this.

There are a lot of people interested in unsolved mysteries. Unfortunately there’s always that small percentage of any collection of people who take matters too far..

It’s still don’t mean she “ fell” in the water, she could have gone in herself. A family member of mine did that, she took medication and got in the river, she was found a few days later, she left a suicide note.

It’s not just Tik Tok it’s here on YouTube too. I’ve seen some disgusting channels saying disgusting things and one even showed Nicola’s body being taken out the river and was really proud that he had it and showing it on his channel

This has been interesting and tragic to watch the media and amateur YouTube detectives hijack the narrative of this personal tragedy. They are strangely quiet. Where is the guy that said that said if she’s in the river I’ll find her. This should never have been a national or worldwide story. Recently an elderly woman went missing where I live. Took 3 weeks to find her body in the bush. Friends living an hour away were only vaguely aware.

Sorry I’m just not getting how her phone was found on a bench, so she left her phone on the bench then accidentally fell in to the river? That’s very odd

We know why, they are so self obsessed and without an ounce of self awareness. We are living in a world of narcissists

As the report says, “…denying the reality…” pretty much sums up what a pox social media is upon the well being of society and our very souls

And no one finds it suspicious that they found her cell phone and the dog’s harness placed neatly on the bench. If she’s walking and fill in the river I think she would have those things on her. Why are people asleep on this? I don’t understand 😭🤦
